Find Your Inner Child, It Can Be A Really Cool Experience :)

Posted by Lucinda     Category: Card Of The Day

Express Yourself

The inner child wants to explore the unexplored, and venture into the unventured.
Nourish your inner child. Laugh, play, sleep, eat, meditate, repeat.
There is no reason why we should stray from our child-like state,
and there is no reason we should disconnect from our inner child.
Our inner child is a timeless being who will continually reside within us
until the end of time. Its voice may have been muffled or unheard, drowned
out by the hussle & bussle in our environment and the external
noise that is placed upon us.
Your inner child is calling out to you.
Reconnect with your inner child – your brilliance, that part of you
who knows that you have a greatness beyond words.
Here are three ways to reconnect with your inner child:
1. Look into Your Eyes
Look into the mirror, into your eyes, and talk to yourself. Use affirmations.
Look closely into your eyes. Don’t be surprised when you see a spark twinkling
back at you, for that is your soul. Afterall, your eyes are the windows
to your soul.
2. Express Yourself Freely
The inner child never suppresses or bottles up feelings. When it loves,
it gives all the love it has, for there is more where that came from. When
something beautiful touches your heart, feel free to ball your eyes out
with tears of joy. When you discover something amazing –
dance, shout, celebrate, and share it with the world without a second thought.
That is how your Inner Child operates – it knows no boundaries, holds
no expectations, and loves unconditionally.
3. Honor Your Inner Child
Play
Although your Inner Child is called a “child,” it is far beyond that. Its wisdom
is beyond our understanding. It knows what you have yet to know. It doesn’t worry
about what is out of your control, so just let go. Love, respect, and honor your
inner child. Allow time for play – in whatever form that pleases you, be it yoga, travel,
writing, dancing, meditating…
Remember: We do not stop playing because we grow old. We grow old
because we stop playing.
Right now, your inner child is calling out to you. So go – go and play,
and nourish that part of you, as you would your child.
Pray
Please remember to share this with your loved ones, to remind them to
never stop playing. When we never stop playing, we remain in a world
that is happy, carefree, and laughter-filled.

It’s Time To Get Down To The Heart Of The Matter

Without Forgiveness How Can We Ever Move Forward And Out Of The Quick Sand We Have Built Around Our Very Beings

This song and meaning has brought tears to my eyes and to my very soul

I got the call today
That I didn’t wanna hear
But I knew that it would come
An old, true friend of ours was talkin’ on the phone
She said you’d found someone
And I thought of all the bad luck,
And the struggles we went through
And how I lost me and you lost you
What are these voices outside love’s open door
Make us throw off our contentment
And beg for something more?
I’m learning to live without you now
But I miss you sometimes
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I knew, I’m learning again
I’ve been tryin’ to get down
To the heart of the matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it’s about…forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don’t love me anymore

Ah…these times are so uncertain
There’s a yearning undefined
And people filled with rage
We all need a little tenderness
How can love survive in such a graceless age?
Ah…the trust and self-assurance that lead to happiness
They’re the very things – we kill I guess…
Ohh pride and competition
Cannot fill these empty arms
And the work I put between us
You know it doesn’t keep me warm
I’m learning to live without you now
But I miss you, baby
And the more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I’d figured out
I have to learn again
I’ve been trying to get down
To the heart of the matter
But everything changes
And my friends seem to scatter
But I think it’s about…forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if, you don’t love me anymore

There are people in your life who’ve come and gone
They let you down, you know they hurt your pride
You better put it all behind you baby; cause’ life goes on
If you keep carryin’ that anger, it’ll eat you up inside, baby
I’ve been trying to get down
To the heart of the matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it’s about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don’t love me
I’ve been tryin’ to get down
To the heart of the matter
Because the flesh will get weak
And the ashes will scatter
So I’m thinkin’ about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if, you don’t love me…

Forgiveness
Even if, you don’t love me anymore

Honesty Equals Integrity

Posted by Lucinda     Category: Card Of The Day

The Truth Will Wash Over You As Beautifully As A Warm Summer Rain

Honesty and Integrity go hand-in-hand, but in today’s world, it seems that  people have grown so lax that both of these traits have flown out of the window.  In fact, if you ask the majority of today’s youth to give you the truest  definition of honesty and integrity, they may be able to tell you that being  honest means telling the truth, but they probably won’t be able to tell you  anymore than that.

Although most people understand what honesty is – telling the truth – do you  understand what telling the truth entails? For example, yes it is wrong to lie,  but isn’t it also wrong not to tell the whole truth, or the whole story so to  speak? Many people believe that withholding portions of the truth is the same as  lying, and if you are doing this, you are not practicing honesty.

But, again, if you ask today’s youth about integrity, most won’t have a clue  what you are talking about. This is a word that they know how to spell. They  have some small idea of what it pertains to, but they have no real grasp on what  it means to have integrity, along with honesty. If you have integrity, it means  that you live your life in a moral and ethical way. Honesty covers lying, but  integrity seemingly covers everything else in life.

The Truth WILL Set You Free

Once we grow up, and are forced to face reality, we learn that the world can  be a cold, hard, cruel place. As we work our way through life, often we lose  site of our own values. We are trying to get the bills paid, get the kids  educated, taking care of elderly parents, trying to hold our marriage together,  and trying to live to see our own retirement years and grandchildren. With all  of this going on – seemingly all of the time – it isn’t hard to lose sight of  our values, which in turn affects our honesty and integrity, even if we never  intended for that to happen.

Before you can live your life with honesty and integrity, you first need to  have a good sense of who you are, and what you stand for in life. We all have  strong feelings concerning certain issues, such as abortion, firearms, and  things of this nature. But as big as these issues are, these are the easy ones.  Here, you are either on one side of the fence, or the other.

But in the small day-to-day things, where do you stand in terms of your  values. For example, is your honesty and integrity so great that if you ran a  red light, you would pull over the next policeman that you saw and insist that  he give you a ticket? The chances are good that you won’t. But if the cashier at  the lunch counter gives you too much change, the second you realize it, are you  going to give that extra money back? Hopefully your honesty and integrity would  come into play, and you would do everything in your power to get that money back  to that cashier.

In order to live a life based on honesty and integrity, you must know who you  are and what you stand for, and you must also police yourself on a daily basis,  ensuring that you aren’t doing anything that conflict’s with your own values or  moral code.

Today’s Message

Choosing right means great things.  When you are making excellent choices for your life, please keep in mind the people you will be impacting and how this affects you.  How are you apart of the bigger picture?  Who are you impacting with these choices?  Please live your life and do right with what is in your heart first.  You would not be able to make the best of decisions if you aren’t well.  Get well,  first.  If you are unfit, exercise!  If you are hurting in your head, go talk to someone and let it out or journal.  If you are stuck, start moving.  A little everyday, gather strength and speed and you will see how easy making the right choice for your life and or for the people you love, will be!

Finding Yourself Alone Is A Great Time To Find You. Written By Barbara Scott

Posted by Lucinda     Category: Card Of The Day, Weekend Featured Artists

Being Alone, Or Is It Simply Feeling Lonely?

Being alone is sometimes a good thing.  Actually, it’s always a good thing.  That is not to mean living alone, secluded and reclusive.  It just means when you find yourself alone for a period of time, it’s a good thing.

A lot of people feel a bit frantic about finding themselves alone.  A lot of people won’t go to a restaurant and eat alone.  Why is that?  What causes the fear, and the discomfort they are feeling is fear, about being by oneself?

We’ve all heard the self help gurus calling for us to love and accept ourselves for who we truly are.  If we unconditionally love and accept ourselves, being alone is easy.  It sounds easy, right?  But when we feel compelled to jump in the car and go any place where we won’t be alone, it isn’t easy.  When we fill our schedules with enough social events that would make Prince Charles cringe, it isn’t easy.  When we become a permanent fixture at the gym, it’s not so easy.  What is happening when we can’t face alone time?

It’s like looking in a mirror and seeing that boring person at a party who is talking your ear off and the only thing you want is to get away as fast as possible.  My favorite saying is, “No matter where you go, there you are.”  It’s true.  No matter how fast we run from ourselves we can never escape.  No matter how busy we keep ourselves, no matter how many activities or obligations, our issues are always there, dragging like the chains of Jacob Marley . . . “I wear the chain I forged in life….I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will I wore it.” Yep.  One can never really run away.  We build the chain link by link and in solitude it speaks to us.  If we listen carefully, we can hear its message in our mind and body and it is usually speaks of fear.  Fear of what?  That’s what we need to find out.  We need to be still and silent once in a while and check in with our mind/body/spirit to contemplate our fears of being alone.

Alone Time Can Be Discovery Time, Why Not Give It A Try :)

It is in solitude that we can face our demons.  In solitude is the silence required in which we intently listen to what the soul and psyche have to impart.  It is when we consider the path we are taking along life’s way.  Solitude, no matter how brief, is a gift and we always want to use it wisely and honestly.

There are some people who absolutely love being alone.  I am one of them.  I am my own best friend and I never get bored.  Oh, to have the entire house to myself!  I can play my kind of music without anyone judging my choices.  I can sit in silence and read a good book.  I can cook a new recipe that I found online, or watch a girlie movie.  I don’t have to share that time and I don’t have to compromise my personal desires as to how to fill the time.  It’s just me, myself, and I.  And it’s always perfect . . . for me.

Again, it is when we are alone that we have time to reflect on our lives.  We can use such occasions as opportunities to relax in our own skin, decompress, and shed all the expectations harbored by loved ones, our boss, our community, etc.  It can be a time of pampering ourselves with whatever floats our boat.  It can also be a time of quiet communication with our Creator . . . a time of spiritual contemplation.  It’s a time of personal work.  It’s quite easy, really.  It’s called enjoyment.  Enjoyment of the comfortable feeling of being by oneself.  The more we take that time of solitude, no matter how brief, the more comfortable we become in our own company.

Remember, the environment doesn’t have to be stone silent.  I am not suggesting that peace can only come through silence.  We can be engaged in any assortment of alone activities and be at peace.

Be Still My Soul

Forget about what everyone else is doing.  Don’t be afraid to miss what is going on when you’re not there.  When you love your alone time, you are loving yourself.  Who is your best friend?  I hope you get to the point where you realize that you are your own best friend . . . that you enjoy your own company over that of anyone else.  When that point is reached, there is better discernment regarding future activities with friends and family.  The choices are more healthy and you can decide what activity makes you truly happy, whether alone or in a crowd.  Peace, be still . . . and listen.

Thank You Barbara Scott For Your Words Of Wisdom. Stress and Panic Can Cause Many Unwanted Ailments,We Need to Know

Posted by Lucinda     Category: Card Of The Day

Living With Fear and Panic

These are stressful and uncertain times in which we live and it is easy to succumb to the insidious grip of fear and panic.

It sometimes seems as though we are walking, talking pressure cookers who have bottled up issues and circumstances that we have no desire to address or have little time to contemplate. Life moves at a quick pace and it you’re not paying attention it can spin out of control as you step faster and faster trying to keep up. We may need six arms, six eyes, and a rotating head to continue juggling our daily existence . . . and it can all take a painful toll on our psyches. Perhaps we better keep an eye on the pressure gauge to make sure we aren’t about to blow.

What keeps us running so fast? What might we be hiding from ourselves in the process? Each “ingredient” (daily living, separation/divorce, stressful job, not enough time in the day) we stuff into the pressure cooker brings us closer to the fear (and sometimes panic) that we can no longer go on in such a manner. We just can’t juggle one more ball. The pressure builds and builds until the fear reaches physical proportions like rapid heartbeat, tightness in the chest, sweating palms, needing to escape, and fear of dying. Yet we have to keep moving. We have to keep it to ourselves . . . it’s a secret we feel we have to keep from others lest they think we’re not up to task or that we can no longer be counted on to keep it all together.

Most of our fears are centered around relationships, finances, jobs, and survival. The fear of loss, whether it be the loss of love or money. The fear of not having enough love, money, food, and comfort. The fear of being abandoned and alone. How much will we tolerate in order to “keep everything going?” How much do we stuff in the pressure cooker in order to keep the status quo?

More people suffer from panic disorders today than at any time during history. It seems to be a price many are paying for the life choices they’ve made. All it takes is one panic attack and then another fear is stuffed into the pressure cooker which is the fear of having another attack. The fear multiplies and becomes like a snowball rolling downhill, gathering more snow as it goes along. More and more fear. More and more panic. Perhaps now we can hardly leave home without the specter of physical debilitation resulting from the fear of another panic attack (agoraphobia). What to do?

Stress Release, It Works Every Time

I would like to suggest that fear and panic are just symptoms, indicators, if you will, of personal issues that are not being addressed. It’s the releasing of the pressure valve on the cooker. It all has to be expressed somehow and the fear/panic is how it’s being done.

Fear takes up a LOT of our energy. It cloaks the rest of our life in heavy chains of fatigue and depression. It robs us of joy and a sense of feeling truly alive. Fear breeds more fear. It becomes a cage in which we exist until we decide to break free.

Breaking Free Of  The Chain

Breaking free entails taking inventory of what’s really going on in our lives. It means being totally honest with ourselves and our loved ones. Remember the last stressful day you had and dissect it. Start with that morning and go through the day remembering each thing you had to stuff in the pressure cooker in order to keep going. How many times during that day were you fearful? Come on, be honest. Think of what fear feels like and remember that day in those terms. What triggered the fear? Perhaps your boss yelled at you and it made you feel incompetent. Perhaps you had an argument with your wife or husband and it left you feeling afraid they would leave. Maybe there wasn’t enough money in the checkbook to pay the electric bill. WHAT IS THE WORST THING THAT CAN HAPPEN? This is the question that needs to be answered. What is the worst thing that can happen? Figure out what that is and face it. I mean squarely stare it down until it no longer has the power to frighten you. Is losing your job the worst thing that will ever happen to you? Is separating and getting a divorce the worst thing? Is going bankrupt the worst thing? Of course these things are painful to experience. But why feed them energy by focusing fear upon them? What other ways can you confront the fear and turn a situation into a productive one? Stop living in the deep dark closet of fear and panic. Bring fear into the light and share the burden. Be honest with yourself and admit the fears. Take them out and play with them for a while. Put a funny hat on them or a clown nose. Throw them against the wall and watch them splat. What’s the worst thing that can happen?

Today’s Message, Acceptance, How We Can Find That Place Of Inner Peace

Posted by Lucinda     Category: Card Of The Day

With Acceptance Comes Peace Within

Just as there are laws of the physical universe such as Newton’s laws of gravitation and motion, there are five sequential rules that govern spiritual consciousness. They are acceptance, cooperation, understanding, loving, and enthusiasm. Each one is a doorway to the next. Our awareness of the presence of spirit in our lives is governed by these five laws. As we become able to comprehend and align ourselves with them, we gain access to the treasures they guard.

I think of spiritual consciousness as our ability to know our divine nature and to let that inform how we function in our lives. No matter what one’s beliefs are regarding God, spirituality, or religion, the laws of spirit represent a passageway to mental and emotional freedom. When we do not work in cooperation with these laws, our consciousness typically operates in a reactive mode to external conditions — perceiving ourselves to be victims or winners in the game of life.

The Most Unlikely Pair Sharing Total Acceptance

The first law of spirit, or stepping stone along this path to freedom, is acceptance. Real acceptance is not for wimps, nor is it a wishy-washy passive way of making do with whatever is present. It is not a “whatever” attitude of resignation either. Acceptance is a conscious choice to drop all forms of resistance to whatever has come present in the moment and making the most of it. Acceptance isn’t about liking or approving of something. It is about letting life flow and unfold without getting in the way. It is about being receptive rather than exerting resistance to what comes present. Instead of focusing on the past or the future or wanting things to be different than they are, we open to what is true in the moment. This absence of “againstness” allows us to engage our reality in such a way that we can learn from it and strengthen our ability to function in this world.

For many of us, our first impulse is to resist something that we do not like that comes our way. Acceptance requires overriding this impulse and choosing to breathe into and through the experience, trusting that it has value that is for us and not against us. The truth of the matter is that resistance prolongs the negative experience, and acceptance allows for the possibility of changing our experiences by changing our attitudes.

Consider the bride who had her heart so set on having an outdoor wedding that she didn’t make a solid plan B in case of inclement weather. As her wedding day arrived, the storm clouds were rolling in and the forecast was not promising. She was the one who would make the final judgment call about whether or not to move the ceremony indoors. She woke up worrying about the weather, and was distracted by her concerns throughout the entire day leading up to her 6 p.m. ceremony. She missed out on all the available joy and excitement of spending her wedding day with her bridal party. She didn’t realize that while the impending storm was out of her control, the internal weather in her heart and mind was entirely up to her. Instead of deciding to play it safe and give her team time to set up the ceremony indoors, she waited until the very last minute. Finally, I went to encourage her to move the ceremony indoors. She was sitting there sobbing in her wedding dress, with makeup dripping down her stubborn face. Just then, the sky blackened and there was a torrential downpour. All the chairs were soaked, the guests ran for cover in a panic and the staff was out in the rain gathering the chairs, whisking them into the reception tent, toweling them dry while sliding over the wet and treacherous floor. Imagine how different this bride’s day would have been if she had been able to accept that she had no control over the weather.

Here are two things to watch out for next time you have preconceived notions about how you want things to be and then reality presents you with something very different:

    1. If you hold on to your desire, you create a mental and emotional tension between your desire and reality. The distance between the two will be connected by a stream of negative emotions. Alternatively, if you choose to accept reality, all that energy that would have been spinning around in negativity can be invested in figuring out how to make the best of your situation.

  • As in the example of the bride described above, no amount of wishful thinking or attachment to a desired outcome makes it any more probable than it is. Consider only truly viable alternatives. If there is a 70 percent chance of rain, attaching yourself to the idea of sunshine merely sets you up for unhappiness and blinds you from seeing, appreciating, and investing in the real options that are available to you.

Ultimately, acceptance is about trusting yourself to rise to whatever occasion presents itself to you. It is about being open to ALL of life, knowing that it all has value whether you like it or not.

Acceptance Is A Deeper Sign Of Love

Here are two of my favorite quotes on the subject of acceptance:

The reason more of us are not spiritually aware people is that we often don’t or won’t accept what is happening. Acceptance is a flow of consciousness that continually moves on to the next thing.
So accept whatever comes your way, and don’t grumble against anything that happens to you. If it happens, it happens. Go on about your business. Keep flowing. You cannot control circumstances from the outside, so instead of resisting pain or failure and defending against it, you can embrace and encompass your pain and your failures, fully accepting them so that they become part of you.You then can let them go because they are part of your inner environment — they are within your domain — and the loving of your Soul can dissolve them. — John-Roger

Acceptance Begins Here

Accept — then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it … This will miraculously transform your whole life. — Eckhart Tolle

Every cell in your body has a direct relationship with Creative Life Force, and each cell is independently responding. When you feel joy, all the circuits are open and the Life Force or God Force can be fully received. When you feel guilt or blame or fear or anger, the circuits are hindered and the Life Force cannot flow as effectively. Physical experience is about monitoring those circuits and keeping them as open as possible. The cells know what to do. They are summoning the Energy.
